Mohari founder establishes the Scheinberg Relief Fund in response to Covid-19 pandemic

Mark Scheinberg, the founder of Mohari, has launched The Scheinberg Relief Fund, together with his family, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. With an allocation of US$50M, its mission is to provide a meaningful difference with strategic, high impact relief for individuals and communities in locations where the family has a personal or business presence.

“My family and I are proud to be supporting initiatives and charitable organisations that are battling on the frontline against Covid-19, globally and locally.

We hope this fund will help reduce the immediate and long-term impact of those affected by this terrible disease.”

Donations have already been made to non-profit organisations and initiatives in 10 countries across 4 continents. These include Canada, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Isle of Man, Israel, South Africa, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States.

The Funds supports social benefit projects within four categories: Recent projects include:

  • Equipment and Supplies
    • AmCham and CRUSA (Costa Rica) – In co-ordination with Costa Rican business associations, the Scheinberg Relief Fund funded and facilitated the purchase of 40 Cepheid GeneXpert testing machines and 4,032 testing kits for the nation’s healthcare system. The initiative was led by the CRUSA Foundation, AmCham and AED, with the Ministry of Health and Costa Rica’s national healthcare system (CCSS).
  • Food Security
    • Queremos #Serutiles (Spain) – In a unique partnership between  Four Seasons, Grupo Dani García, Mohari and OHLD, the kitchens of the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid were put to use for the first time, preparing 1, 000 meals per day for families in need. The recipes used to prepare those meals were from Michelin Star chef Dani García’s own collection, food he usually cooks at home for himself and family.
  • Elderly Care
    • Toronto Foundation (Canada) – The Scheinberg Relief Fund provided support that ensured 1000s of Toronto’s elderly continue to receive wrap-around services such as meals-on-wheels, grocery and medication delivery, transportation, virtual/telephone programming and critical social work to tackle isolation and loneliness.
  • Animal Welfare
    • ZSL Zoological Society of London (UK) – The Scheinberg Relief Fund donated a much-needed cash injection to ZSL, which doesn’t benefit from government grants or government led-emergency relief schemes. This enabled zoos, including London Zoo, to keep running by supporting the feeding and care for over 20,000 animals and paying wages of frontline workers.
